Iolani Earns State Birth, Gelacio and Yamada Take Control

After beating the Spartans 2 times this year the Raiders tried to win for a third time in a row in the ILH semi-finals to earn a state birth.  Zach Gelacio proved to be the main scorer for the Raiders with 21 points.  Gelacio has been a break out star this year and last nights performance solidified himself as one of the top players in the state.  Of course the Raiders could not do it without veteran captain Erik Yamada who pitched in 14 points and smoothly ran the offense all year.  This will be the second time Erik has made it to the ILH championship and said, "Getting into the State tournament has been One of our goals from the start of the season.  But before states we have a chance to play for an ILH tournament championship, so that is our priority right now."  The Raiders will play rival Punahou for the crown.  Yamada said,"Punahou is a really good team with a lot of depth and many versatile players.  We just gotta take care of the things that we can control and hope for the best."

Upset!

The unthinkable happened when last night when Farrington took down the number one team in the state.  In the David vs Galiath matchup,  Kahlaheo was predicted to run the floor against an under matched Farringotn team.  Farrington put on a very inspirational fight that came all the way to a last second shot by Bryce Tatupu-Leopoldo.  This has marked the end of Kalaheo's 17 game win streak.  Tua Unutoa had a coming out party for the Govs with a game high 17 points.  Now the Govs will be in the OIA championship game.

Can they be Stopped?

The Kalaheo Mustangs have steam rolled to the OIA semi-finals.  Gilmore and Harrison have proven to be the best duo in the state.  With their success they do not look like they can be stopped.  The Mustangs are our early pick to take the crown this year.

Maryknoll Earns Rematch Against the Raiders

The Spartans defeat Mid Pac 52-46 to advance to the ILH semi-finals.   Justice Sueing has been the go to guy all year and led his team with 18 points.   Will Sueing do enough to beat the state champion Raiders?  If both teams have any hope of a championship they must win Wednesday night in the single elimination game.  The Raiders have been solid all year led by break out star Zach Gelacio.  Gelacio has proven to be the sharp shooter.
